Celia is in desperate need of a change--a change of scenery, a change of pace, and a complete redo of all relationships. Not knowing what else to do, she opens a map, closes her eyes, and lets fate decide her future. Then she packs her meager belongings and buys a one-way ticket to a little town on the fringes of Oregon's Deschutes National Forest called Sisters. She's wanted a family for years. Will she find one in Sisters? What Celia doesn't plan to find is a strange Chinese woman whose meddling ways keep throwing her in the path of a handsome, but reserved, forest ranger. But no matter how kind or dependable Silas seems to be, there are some things in Celia's past that neither of them can escape, and this time, the damage might be too much to mend.

 My Review:

This story is an emotional journey that will tug on your heart strings and keep you reading until the very last word. Pearl was this quirky and fun character, I could picture this older Chinese woman in my mind insisting someone drive her somewhere. And then I was so intrigued with Celia riding on the bus and I wanted to know why and what she was running away from! When I learned her story, my heart broke for her. I wanted to pick up the pieces and help her move on myself.  And then there was Silas with his stutter and his sweet personality, where did he fit into all of this? I had so many questions and I wanted to know how everything would tie together. This story has stayed with me all day since I finished reading it and I love this new direction that White has taken with her writing! It is still clean, still sweet, yet it addresses hard realities and tough real life situations. A journey you will be glad you went on, Broken Things to Mend is one book you don't want to miss!
